Lolita Fashion

I first came across Lolita on Tumblr back in the 2010s after photos of some very beautiful brand dresses made their way to my feed. Much like Momoko from Shimotsuma Monogatari, after discovering Lolita, it was as though my old self had been slain and I had been born again. In particular, I fell in love with Baby, the Stars Shine Bright at first sight (but I do also have a major soft spot for Angelic Pretty).

Lolita was something kept close to my heart for a long time, with one of the rare times I didn't engage with others being when I was reading through blogs religiously and looking at coords online. Between then and now, I've come to realise that "cuteness" is something that I can most definitely strive for, regardless of how many years pass and that it's not something I need to keep hidden. Being able to meet someone like my university professor, who was open about her love of J-fashion and V-Kei while also being an incredibly successful adult, was the final push I needed to make the choice to express myself through Lolita. ♡
